by Kizul Emeraldfire on May 1, 2011 at 16:24Yep. I started this comic near the end of February of last year, and (after many delays) have FINALLY managed to get to the tenth strip.
W00t — go me!
Technically, the absolute first strip has nothing to do with the ones following, so this one feels more like only the ninth strip to me — but oh well.
Also, there’s not going to be an update for a while because I’ve gotten tired of only updating ‘monthly . . . -ish!’ I’m going to attempt to build up a back-log of comics for now. Unfortunately, I only have the next two pages scripted, so there may be no updates THIS month, either.
But on the up side, there will be multiple updates in May! June! (at the latest — I hope — rather than at the earliest.)
So, um, yeah. I’m gonna get to work on those scripts now — we will return in May! June! (I hope.)

Many apologies for the unannounced downtime late last night/this evening. WordPress was bugging me to update, and I also managed to prove to Mr. Frumph — the author of the ComicPress theme for WordPress — that avatars were broken in ComicPress’ latest version; he released a patch for it, and I wanted to get it implemented A.S.A.P.
Also, sorry for having the downtime last a half-hour longer than it was supposed to. Right at 18:00, EVERYTHING suddenly became busy on the server, so the FTP wouldn’t let me log in.
Anyway, enjoy the slightly-better-looking Driving North Backwards site! Clicking the header will bring you back to the main page, there’s a Favicon now, and Comments Thread avatars finally work! :D
The only down side to this update is, Mr. Frumph removed the “Search Transcripts” widget — so now you can’t search the comics. :(
So, a little background here: I have a laptop and a PC.
The laptop’s screen broke a while back, so I’m using a monitor on it. The PC, which I bought rather recently, didn’t come with a monitor.
I happen to have four other monitors (3 CRT and 1 LCD), but none of them came with video cables.
I bought a video cable off of eBay, and it took over a MONTH to arrive. When it did arrive, I noticed that some of the pins in one of the connectors were pushed back into the connector itself.
Id est, the cable was broken, so I was (and, currently, still am) unable to use a monitor on my PC and still have a monitor attached to my laptop.
So, for all of you wondering, “Where is the comic? It’s been a month since the last one!” — just give me another week. D: Even if I have to put up a stick-figure placeholder or a sketchy version of the comic, THERE WILL BE ONE! :|
So, it seems that WordPress now has a version 3.0. It’s been available for a couple of days now, so I suppose I’ll be taking the site down later today to see if I can upgrade to 3.0. :)
Well, I got tired of waiting for 20:00 — the ‘site is back up six hours early! :D
The upgrade went very smoothly — there are no problems that I can see right now.
Minor changes to the site include a Favicon, and a new visitor counter, because I got tired of my web-hosting place’s counter constantly disappearing. :| It doesn’t look quite as good, but at least it works.
I also fixed the AJAX Calendar to the right — it wasn’t working correctly before, so I rolled it back to its previous version, and now it works the way it should! :D Yay.

Well, I now have not one, but TWO air conditioners! :) One of my sister’s co-workers loaned out a small air conditioner to us about a week or so ago to use for the Summer, and then I went out and bought another one (slightly bigger) for the other end of the house. They work quite nicely, too, so I should have no problem updating Driving North Backwards now — provided I don’t happen to suffer a prolonged spell of laziness, as it seems I am wont to do.
